How to Use WinArchiver Virtual Drive for Mounting ISO Images
WinArchiver Virtual Drive is a lightweight, free utility designed to mount optical disc images and archives as simulated hardware. Operating up to 200 times faster than a traditional physical optical drive, it lets you interact with files directly inside an image without burning a disc or extracting compressed archives.
This guide outlines how to configure the tool and instantly mount your ISO images. Step 1: Install and Initialize the Virtual Drive
Before mounting files, you must install the standalone driver utility.
Download the installer from the official WinArchiver Virtual Drive Page.
Run the setup wizard and restart your computer if prompted to initialize the virtual SCSI controller.
Locate the WinArchiver Virtual Drive icon in your Windows system tray (near the clock). Step 2: Set the Number of Virtual Drives
The software supports up to 23 virtual drives simultaneously, but you must enable at least one to begin. Right-click the system tray icon. Hover over the Set Number of Drives menu.
Select 1 Drive (or more if you need to load multiple ISOs at the same time).
Windows will assign a new, unique drive letter (e.g., E:) visible inside File Explorer. Step 3: Mount Your ISO Image
Once a drive letter is ready, you can mount your ISO file using either of two methods: Method A: Via Windows File Explorer (Fastest) Open File Explorer and find your ISO file. Right-click on the ISO file. Hover over the WinArchiver context menu option.
